What a wrinkle is:
With time, exposure to the sun and other elements, skin components break down. The skin loses structure and volume. Unwelcome lines and wrinkles appear. Healthcare professionals now can correct wrinkles and facial folds, reversing the signs of aging.
How wrinkles are corrected
The appearance of wrinkles and facial folds can be smooth by adding structure and volume underneath and bringing sunken skin back up to the surface. Generally, this is done by injecting material into the skin, to achieve a temporary effect. When administered by trained healthcare professionals, you can be sure that the materials have been proven safe to use. One example is hyaluronic acid.
What hyaluronic acid is
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, and one of the major components of the dermis connective tissue matrix, along with collagen and elastin.
HA retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.
Allergen, Inc., has found ways to produce, purify, and package HA to make it available for wrinkle correction.
What JuvédermT is
JuvédermT injectable gel is a smooth gel filler your doctor eases under your ski to instantly smooth out those wrinkles or folds that look like parentheses along the side of your nose and mouth. Results aren’t just instant, they’re smooth and natural, everyone will notice but no one will know.
Your doctor or healthcare professional can tell you which JuvédermT formulation is right for you: JuvédermT Ultra injectable gel, optimally formulated for versatility in contouring and volumizing wrinkles and folds, or JuvédermT Ultra Plus, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper wrinkles and folds. Look smooth and natural with JuvédermT injectable gel.
What makes JuvédermT different?
JuvédermT injectable gel is produced through hylacrossT technology creating a high degree of cross-linking and promoting duration for up to 6 months or longer.
hylacrossT technology results in a smooth consistency gel, which is a primary factor in the long-lasting, smooth, natural look and feel that is a hallmark of JuvédermT wrinkle correction.
JuvédermT Injectable Gel – important treatment consideration for patients
In the US JuvédermT injectable gel is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds) and is generally well tolerated. The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, and bruising. Exposure of the treated area to excessive sun and extreme cold weather should be minimized until any initial swelling and redness has resolved. If laser treatment, chemical peel, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with Juvéderm T injectable gel, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at injection site. You should inform your physician before treatment if you are using these types of substances. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection. Juvéderm T injectable gel should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy. Or therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response, as there may be an increased risk of infection. The safety of Juvéderm T injectable gel in patients with a history of ecessive scarring (e.g., hypertrophic scarring and keloid formations) and pigmentation disorders has not been studied.
JuvédermT injectable gel should not be used in patients who have severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history of presence of multiple severe allergies. JuvédermT injectable gel should not be used in patients with a history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins. The safety of JuvédermT injectable gel for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females, or in patients under 18 years has not been established. The safety and effectiveness of JuvédermT injectable gel for the treatment of areas other than facial wrinkles and folds (such as lips) have not been established in controlled clinical studies.
