I Tried Botox® and Filler for the First Time. Here’s What It Was Like! 

We treat a variety of patients at The Rejuva Center at Williams in Albany, NY. Some are experienced medical spa customers who receive ongoing routine treatments to enhance and maintain their desired appearance. Other patients have tried one service, such as a chemical peel, and are ready to branch out and try others, like Botox®. Finally, other patients are brand new to the med spa experience.

Over the years, we have found that patients in the latter two groups often have many questions about a new type of treatment or the medical spa experience itself. Our experienced team is always happy to answer any questions, but sometimes the best advice comes from others who have experienced the same treatments.

After receiving some generous and insightful feedback from our own customers, we want to share some of the best insider tips that came straight from insiders at The Rejuva Center. Read on to learn more about three clients’ experiences getting Botox® and/or filler for the first time. They share everything from how long it took to see results to potential side effects to reasons they loved and would recommend The Rejuva Center experience.

Patient 1: Botox® for Forehead and Glabella Lines Plus Lip Filler

A while ago, Patient 1 started receiving Botox® treatments at The Rejuva Center after she noticed creases forming on her forehead in what she knew would eventually become “11 lines,” clinically known as glabella lines. Now a routine Botox® patient, she also recently tried lip filler for the first time.

Patient 1’s Results

Patient 1 is a proud member of The Rejuva Center’s Botox® Club, and she credits that choice with preventing any wrinkles from forming along her forehead and brows. In fact, she now describes her forehead as “smooth as glass.” Even better, Patient 1’s face has maintained a natural look and feel, and she reports that she has no issues forming natural expressions or feeling her face.

Lip filler was a new experience for Patient 1, but she got the support she needed from Jen, one of The Rejuva Center’s nurse specialists. Unlike the effects of Botox®, which develop over time, lip filler results appear almost immediately. Jen’s experience with first-time and experienced lip filler patients allowed her to help Patient 1 feel better about the way her lips looked during the first few days after treatment.

As she explains, “Jen said after my lip filler, ‘you’re going to feel like your lips go all the way to the parking lot when you leave here but trust the process!’ The swelling and bruising were minimal, and after about two weeks, my lips looked better than I could have imagined.” Patient 1 also reported that while some areas of her lips were a bit more sensitive than others, the overall process was relatively painless. Jen took the time and care to do the sensitive areas first, when the effects of the topical numbing cream were the strongest and minimized the discomfort.

Patient 1’s Experience

Patient 1 began working with The Rejuva Center for Botox® a while ago, which is why she was so confident turning to us for her first lip filler treatment. She rates her experience as 10/10 and explains, “The staff have always been friendly, and both Jen and Katie (whom I have also seen for Botox®) have always been incredibly thorough when it comes to answering questions and addressing concerns. I was especially hesitant when I decided to do lip injections, but Jen addressed all my concerns, answered all my questions, and was patient with me throughout the consultation.”

Patient 2: Lip Filler and Botox®

Patient 2 first came to The Rejuva Center because she wanted more definition in her face, particularly around her mouth and lips. She opted for a multi-service approach that included both Botox® around her mouth along with lip filler in addition to Botox® injections in other parts of her face, including along the brow line.

Patient 2’s Results

Patient 2 worked with one of The Rejuva Center’s PAs, Seema, who was already one of her favorite team members. She reports that her results were incredibly balanced, “providing an enhancement that is very natural looking, creating symmetry and definition.” Patient 2 specifically gives credit to the combination of Botox® and lip filler, which she says has the effect of lifting the corners of her mouth while adding volume. In terms of her upper face Botox®, Patient 2 reports that the procedure helps her look more youthful and awake.

Like Patient 1, Patient 2 reported immediate results from using lip filler, but she explains that the effects of Botox® took longer — around seven to 10 days — to be fully apparent.

Patient 2’s Experience

Many first-time Botox® and filler patients worry about the pain associated with the procedure, but Patient 2 reports that she found the only pain she experienced to be minor and manageable. She was grateful to the providers at The Rejuva Center, who applied numbing cream prior to injecting lip filler and gave her ice to further soothe the discomfort following her Botox® injections. While Patient 2 did report some light bruising and swelling following her treatments, she explained that this “was very minimal and did not last very long.”

Patient 3: Botox® and Jaw Filler

Opting for a slightly different effect, Patient 3 first came to The Rejuva Center looking for Botox® treatments for her whole face along with filler along her jawline. Her goal was to treat and prevent wrinkles and create a fuller, more defined jaw.

Patient 3’s Results

After receiving her first treatment, Patient 3 was particularly impressed with the natural look achieved by her results. She specifically noted that the wrinkles were less noticeable after Botox® treatment for her forehead, but the results still appeared to be really natural.

As for the jaw filler, Patient 3 reported that she can see a clear difference in her jawline, which is more defined, but she will opt for using more filler next time to make the results even more dramatic.

Patient 3’s Experience

Since her first visit, Patient 3 has seen three different providers at The Rejuva Center, and she has enjoyed her experience each time. She reports that they “all have been friendly, informative, and did a great job.” Overall, she has found the injections for both filler and Botox® to be painless, and the only major side effect she has experienced is a mild headache following her Botox® injections.
