RHA Fillers

The world’s first and only dynamic hyaluronic acid filler that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now available at The Rejuva Center in Albany, New York.

As we age, lines and wrinkles naturally appear on our faces. Once volume is lost, the contours of our faces begin to change. The Rejuva Center at Williams is at the forefront of offering innovative, non-surgical beauty solutions to help clients achieve glowing skin, fewer wrinkles, in addition to facial reshaping and rejuvenation.

Our patients can now regain their youthful glow with the use of resilient hyaluronic acid (RHA) fillers. The RHA Collection of fillers from Revance Therapeutics and TEOXANE offers revolutionary dynamic movement to not only seamlessly blend, but also provide a more natural result.

These RHA injections may be the closest thing to the fountain of youth, providing a younger, smoother, plumper appearance that lasts longer than traditional fillers and moves naturally with your changing expressions.

Before scheduling an appointment to try this revolutionary treatment yourself, learn more about the RHA Collection of fillers to see if it might be a good match for your needs. We offer premier service patients from Albany, Saratoga, Clifton Park, Latham, Troy, and Schenectady, New York when it comes to RHA fillers and other filler injections.

Pre and Post Instructions

What Are RHA Fillers

Facial muscle makes millions of movements every day — from subtle to bold expressions. Frowning, smiling, laughing, squinting, talking — these movements can lead to what are called “dynamic” wrinkles and folds. Simply put, these are the lines that appear on the parts of the face that move frequently.

Treating these areas with traditional dermal fillers can lead to an unnaturally still appearance when the face moves, which is not ideal. But RHA fillers are designed to adapt to facial movements, creating a more natural appearance as your face moves and changes expressions.

The RHA Collection includes three types: RHA 2, RHA 3, and RHA 4, all of which offer the latest in hyaluronic acid filler technology.

Skin naturally produces hyaluronic acid to provide structure, moisture, and volume. As we age, our skin naturally produces less hyaluronic acid. Developed in Switzerland, this innovative collection of fillers acts more like the hyaluronic acid that is naturally produced by the skin.

Additionally, it’s manufactured using a gentle process that preserves the hyaluronic acid’s natural structure.

How Do RHA Fillers Work?

RHA fillers rebuild lost volume without impairing the movement and function of the facial muscles. All three types of fillers in the RHA Collection are designed to mold and bend along with your facial expressions.

These fillers are often referred to as resilient because of the strength, ability to stretch, and capability of smoothing and reshaping areas of the face that are difficult to treat. While other dermal fillers can be stiff and restrict natural facial movements, RHA injections feature dynamic hyaluronic gel that moves with the facial muscles.

At The Rejuva Center, we use each of the RHA Collection fillers to treat different areas of the face effectively and safely. The collection is formulated with unique strength and stretch, allowing us to provide customized results structured to your individual needs.

RHA 2

The RHA 2 filler is designed to fill and smooth fine lines and mild wrinkles. It’s a good option for an RHA lip filler or to treat lines and wrinkles around the mouth — such as smile lines that fan out from the lips.

RHA 2 also works on fine lines and wrinkles in other parts of the face, including crow’s feet and glabellar lines — the vertical frown lines that appear between the eyebrows.

RHA 3

The Rejuva Center may recommend RHA 3 injections for areas where the skin needs more life. This type of RHA filler targets deeper wrinkles. It plumps and smooths the lines in the corners of the lips and wrinkles in the jowls or nasolabial area — the folds that run from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth.

Our staff may also recommend using it to volumize the midface or lips and to smooth your cheeks.

RHA 4

RHA 4 is designed to treat the deepest lines and wrinkles and to add volume to facial contours. We find that it’s particularly effective when used to target the deepest wrinkles in the cheeks, jowls, and other areas that are subjected to repetitive scrunching during expressions.

RHA 4 can also be used to contour the jawline and cheeks in addition to correcting the appearance of facial folds.

How Are RHA Fillers Different from Other Fillers?

The RHA Collection won Shape’s 2021 Skin Award and the 2021 InStyle Award for Best Beauty Buys. It’s the only hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA-approved for use on the folds and wrinkles that appear on the parts of the face that move frequently.

RHA fillers were developed by TEOXANE, a Swiss company founded in 2003 by Madame Valerie Taupin, who co-created Juvéderm® in 2000. Madame Taupin noted that traditional hyaluronic acid fillers had limitations and began directing her research team to design a better option — one that performed more like skin’s natural hyaluronic acid.

In 2015, RHA began changing the dermal fillers game in Europe, but it didn’t become available in the United States until 2020.

Other hyaluronic acid fillers, including Juvéderm® and Restylane®, are available, but RHA fillers are the only FDA-approved option for treating dynamic wrinkles and folds.

These fillers are also made using a gentle manufacturing process with fewer chemical modifications. The result is a product that more closely mirrors the natural structure of the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the skin.

Although many dermal fillers last six to 12 months, RHA fillers are designed to last longer. The RHA Collection is clinically effective for up to 15 months.

Are RHA Fillers Right for Me?

Adults 22-years-of-age or older looking to smooth their facial contours, add volume, or fill in lines, could be a candidate for RHA fillers.

During your consultation with The Rejuva Center, we will go over your medical history to determine any additional precautions that need to be taken. If you have any underlying health conditions, such as a history of severe allergic reactions or a bleeding disorder, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, RHA fillers may not be appropriate for you.

What Can I Expect from RHA Filler Treatment?

Before receiving RHA injections, a consultation with one of the specialists at The Rejuva Center will need to be completed to ensure it is a good option.

This consultation also allows patients to learn more about the procedures, talk about any concerns, and get answers to the questions you have before scheduling an appointment. If you choose to move forward with RHA filler injections, our specialists will provide information about how to prepare for the treatment and how to care for yourself after the procedure.

A specialist will then take a before photo of the area that will receive treatment and book your appointment.

RHA Filler Pre-Treatment

  • To reduce chances of bruising, please avoid the following for one week prior to your visit: any form of alcohol, aspirin, medications containing ibuprofen, Celebrex, and supplements with Vitamin E, Fish Oil, and other herbal supplements (such as ginkgo, garlic or ginseng).
  • If you normally require Valtrex for cold sores, please inform your provider. Depending on the location of your injection, a preventative dose of Valtrex may be prescribed.
  • To aid in faster recovery, take Arnica capsules, a homeopathic supplement to treat bruising and swelling, before and after the procedure. It is available for purchase in our offices.
  • No dental work (including cleaning) four weeks prior to treatment and four weeks after treatment.

During the RHA Filler Treatment

During the treatment appointment, a specialist will first clean and apply topical anesthetic to the treatment area. Once the area is prepped, the doctor will administer the RHA injections according to the treatment plan discussed prior to setting up the appointment. Depending on the extent of the RHA Filler treatment, a session could last anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours or more. Patients can anticipate seeing immediate results. Our specialists may apply ice packs during the treatment to help minimize swelling.

RHA Filler Post-Treatment

As with any injection, cosmetic injections may cause swelling and bruising. Most episodes are very mild and resolve shortly.

  • Once the treatment is complete, our specialists monitor patients for 15 minutes or longer before they are released.
  • After your injection, bruising, swelling, and discomfort may occur. For the first two days, apply an icepack or ice wrapped in a cloth to the treatment area to help reduce swelling as needed (avoid putting ice directly on your skin).
  • The evening after the injection you may wash your face with a gentle cleanser, but do not apply skincare products to the treated area.
  • Avoid intense cardiovascular exercise for 24 hours (i.e., cycling, running, etc.)
  • No make-up for 24 hours post-injection to avoid possible infections.
  • Avoid touching the area excessively for the first 24 hours. Always wash your hands before touching the area of the injection.
  • Please wait one week before doing a facial or other skin treatment.
  • Side effects are typically mild and temporary. Patients can expect to resume their regular routine and daily activities. However, they should minimize exposure to excessive heat and sun and avoid alcoholic beverages for the first 24 hours after getting RHA fillers.
