Juvederm Injectable Fillers

Our society is constantly focused on youth in all forms, and while at one time you may have been able to ignore a few fine lines and wrinkles, the prevalence of social media and omnipresent high definition cameras have changed all of that. Fortunately, the aesthetic industry is also focused on your appearance – from daily skincare regimens to cosmetic treatments, there is truly something out there for everyone. If you’ve noticed that your best efforts to stave off premature signs of aging aren’t working, allowing lines and wrinkles to etch themselves deeper into your skin, while inevitable volume loss is thinning your lips and hollowing your cheeks, injectable fillers may be the solution. Injectable fillers are a nonsurgical and virtually painless way to diminish the visibility of wrinkles while adding volume to nearly any area of your face, leaving you looking smooth and refreshed.

At The Rejuva Center at Williams, we offer the entire Juvéderm® family of fillers, giving you a variety of choices to address everything from softening lines and wrinkles to restoring lost volume. Our Cosmetic Nurse Specialists pair their attention to detail with extensive training and experience to ensure that you leave our office looking youthful and natural, without anyone being able to tell that you’ve had anything “done.”

What are Juvederm Fillers Made Of?

At The Rejuva Center at Williams, we offer several types of fillers, including the FDA-cleared Juvéderm® family of fillers, which are hyaluronic acid-based. Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient used in a number of injectable fillers, because of its versatility and ability to treat a variety of issues. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a tiny molecule found naturally in nearly every cell in your body, with the incredible ability to retain almost 1,000 times its weight in water. HA is a vital part of the systems of your body, because it binds to water and forms a viscous gel that moisturizes and lubricates everything from your eyes to your joints to your skin. In fact, approximately 50 percent of the hyaluronic acid in your body is found in your skin, working to keep it adequately hydrated and balanced. When injected into your skin as a filler, HA softens and smooths and lines, fills in deep folds and wrinkles, and adds volume to areas where it has been lost. This magical molecule does all of this using its own natural ability to keep your skin looking healthy and supple.

The Juvederm Family of Fillers

Juvéderm® and Juvéderm® XC

The pioneering members of the Juvéderm® family of fillers are Juvéderm® and Juvéderm® XC. The sole difference between them is that Juvéderm® XC contains lidocaine, (Juvéderm® does not), which allows those sensitive to pain to maximize their comfort during their treatment. These fillers are typically used to treat mild to moderate lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nasolabial area, as well as the glabella (between the eyebrows), earlobes and philtrum (between the nose and upper lip), with results lasting up to a year. Juvéderm® can also be used to augment your lips.

Juvéderm Vollure®

Juvéderm Vollure® XC targets severe nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines, offering results that last up to 18 months.

Juvéderm Volbella® XC

Juvéderm Volbella® XC is used to soften and smooth perioral lines (also called “lipstick lines”) around the mouth, as well as for enhancing and augmenting your lips for up to a year.

Juvéderm Voluma® XC

Juvéderm Voluma® XC works to restore the contour, lift and volume to your cheeks and midface that has been lost due to the natural aging process. Because of the way it is formulated, Voluma can be injected a bit deeper for a better volume boost. Juvéderm Voluma® XC rejuvenates your appearance, leaving you with beautiful, natural-looking facial volume for up to two years.

Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC

Ultra Plus XC is similar to Juvéderm® XC in that it is designed to treat the same areas, but is typically used for more moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. The primary difference between Juvéderm® XC and Ultra Plus XC is the molecule size – molecules in Ultra Plus are larger, allowing them to last up to a year and provide a bit more volume.

What To Know About Your Juvederm Filler Treatment and Results

All of our injectable filler treatments are performed right in our office, and typically take under 30 minutes. The procedure is practically pain-free, as each filler contains lidocaine, an anesthetic. Juvederm injections are minimally invasive and require zero downtime – you can return to work or your other daily activities immediately without anyone knowing that you had a cosmetic treatment.

You will see your gorgeous Juvéderm® results immediately, and they will continue to improve for one to two weeks. The amount of Juvéderm® necessary to correct or enhance an area will be determined during your consultation with one of our Cosmetic Nurse Specialists, as it is dependent on the area being treated and the amount of correction required. Your results can last for a year or more, depending on which filler was used and how quickly your body absorbs the filler.

As with any treatment, there may be side effects, which may appear at the site of the injection, including:

  • Hardness, lumps or bumps
  • Redness or skin discoloration
  • Bruising or swelling
  • Tenderness, pain or itching

If you experience any of the above issues, rest assured that they are mild and temporary, usually resolving on their own within a couple of weeks.
