How Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring procedure that works by delivering “controlled cooling” to the targeted areas of your body where stubborn fat hasn’t responded well to diet and exercise. This treatment gently and effectively reduces the number of fat cells in the targeted area, ridding your body of them permanently. Because CoolSculpting offers applicators that come in a variety of shapes and sizes, it is an ideal way to smooth and contour nearly anywhere on your body where you struggle with pockets of excess fat.

The science behind CoolSculpting is known as cryolipolysis, a process that effectively kills targeted fat cells by freezing them. Once the targeted fat cells have been frozen and crystallized, they die and are gradually processed and eliminated naturally by your body. CoolSculpting provides controlled, precision cooling only to the areas you’ve chosen to address. Fatty tissue freezes at a lower temperature than other water-based tissues in your body, making it easier to freeze just the fat cells, without causing damage to tissues in the surrounding area.
